Net Zero Carbon Events to launch roadmap at COP27

COP26 in Glasgow was a milestone for the events industry, a sector that’s admittedly struggled to align its practices with its high ideals, and where, until recently, there’s been a distinct absence of tools to measure event sustainability.

But the times they are a-changing. The event industry pledged its commitment to Net Zero Carbon Events in 2021. And this year, at COP27 in Sharm El- Sheikh, it will reveal the roadmap on Decarbonisation Day 11/11.

To date, 225 industry experts have contributed to the project, including –

·        Convention Bureaux

·        Event organisers

·        Suppliers

·        Venues

who are all committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and net zero events by 2050.

Many event professionals are welcoming with open arms a roadmap for steering and benchmarking. After all, it’s hard to be more proactive around sustainability if you don’t know how you’re doing. What’s more, it’s far from ideal if you’re unable to demonstrate your successes in support of your business’s overall goals and sustainability strategies.

So, the burning question is – How important is event sustainability to you?

At MICE Concierge, we work with a broad range of Associations, private and public sector organisations. And we’re acutely aware that sustainability is a driving factor for many of you when planning an event.

So, get in touch about sustainable venues, events suppliers, and advice on generating awareness and creating synergy between all parties. And check out this article for more information about joining the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative. It’s free to register.
